Guide to Kirra Beach Playground Gold Coast
Heading north from Coolangatta around Marine Parade towards Kirra, you’ll come across one of the world’s most well-known beaches, famous for happy, consistent, rolling waves that surfers adore.
There’s a bike/scooter path that runs along the Kirra foreshore from Coolie to Tugun shops, and about midway along, opposite Douglas Street, you’ll find THE playground we’re talking about.
Play here long enough and you’re bound to see a surfing star meander by too.
It’s the playground that keeps on giving.

Kirra Playground Equipment
No.1: Pyramid Fort
Climbing to the top of the A-line maze mountain is the biggest challenge here.
Can the kids make it all the way to the top?
No.2: Swings
For the more laid-back types like my boy, this swaying swing is just the place to kick back out of reach of your little brother.
No.3: Toddler Fort & Seesaw
There’s:
- a fort with a twin slippery slide (to spark yet another sibling competition)
- rubber mounds to leapfrog
- an ingenious mini-seesaw
- spinning flower cup seats
No.4: Merry Go Round
Saving the best for last, a moulded plastic modern round-about with bucket seats, perfect to fit little “peachy bums” while it whizzes.
